My name is Sara. I am fully qualified and insured massage therapist based all day Thursday at Soulfire Studios in Netheredge Sheffield. I also offer some occasional mobile working.

I qualified in 2017 at the London School of Massage, completing my ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Massage and Advanced Therapeutic Massage with Deep Tissue. I have since developed my practice including completing courses in Shiatsu and Reiki, Biodynamic, Body Mind Centring, Pregnancy and Trauma-Informed massage.

I am a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and insured through Holistic Insurance.

A little about me…

I believe life is sacred and love being active - enjoying the powerful way we communicate and connect through movement and touch. I also appreacite stillness, embracing time in nature and the wild.

I was originally inspired to explore body therapy whilst working in a domestic abuse refuge and seeing massage’s transformative and healing potential. This has shaped my practice, wanting it to be restorative and grounded in care and respect.

I am also a qualified social worker and have a Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My therapeutic background enhancing my ability to connect, attune and consider a person’s individual holistic needs.

What is holistic massage?

Massage has been used since ancient times to promote and restore health in cultures that have a holistic approach to medicine - a complementaty therapy to conventional medicines.

Massage, along with other body and talking therapies, is a wonderful way to help us reconnect to ourselves and any trapped emotions.

Holistic massage treats the individual as a whole, creating a state of harmony in both body and mind. It has the benefit of being a deeply relaxing therapy and during periods of relaxation the body takes the opportunity to heal, restore and energise itself.

I practise holistically - being present, mindful of the whole of myself and you during any session. I give you permission to relax and feel accepted wherever you are at.

To practise holistically also means to consider our connection to the natural world and environment.  I am mindful of creating a relaxing and safe physical space and committed to practising in as gentle, ethical and sustainable a way as possible.  For example, I use vegan oils and wash my towels and linens in eco-friendly liquid.

What happens prior and during a treatment?

Massage is a holistic therapy and a consultation of your health and lifestyle is taken prior to your first session so the treatment can be tailored to your specific needs. It also ensures there are no health complications that would mean massage is not advisable. I usually send a consultation form by email and ask it be returned before your initial session. However, this can also be completed by phone or face to face. I will check in with you at the start of any subsequent sessions to see if there are any changes.

Massage requires you to partially or completely undress (underpants are always kept on); however, any part of the body not being massaged is always kept covered with towels. There is also the option of doing massage over clothes if this feels more comfortable.

You are completely in control of your massage treatment. It is important to be aware that the treatment is devised in consultation with you. A treatment can be stopped or amended at any time and your comfort is of the utmost importance.

Confidentiality

I want you to feel safe and comfortable. I treat your personal information with respect and confidentiality, adhering to data protection policy and the Information Commissioner’s Office guidelines for the health and social care sector.

When is massage not advisable?

Massage is generally a very safe and effective treatment. However, it is advisable to contact your medical or complementary practitioner to ensure it is safe for you to receive massage if you have any pre-existing medical condition.

Treatments cannot take place if you have fever, vomiting or diarrhoea, any contagious or infectious diseases, including cough, cold and flu, are under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol.

Covid 19 information

What unprecedented, evolving and complex times. I adhere to government guidelines and create a hygienic space to minimise any chance of spread of infection, including:

  • I ask you some Covid-19 screening questions ahead of your appointment and, if you have any symptoms, ask that you reschedule your appointment.
  • I will wear a face mask if it would make you feel safer and more comfortable and you are welcome to wear one if you prefer.
  • I ensure the space is sanitised and disposable table coverings are used.
  • To minimise contact around transactions, I ask that payments are ideally made in advance.
  • There will be a 15-30min gap between clients to ensure space is ventilated and cleaned.
